  • Emily Wagner is an artist living in Los Angeles. She has shown her work extensively in Los Angeles, Texas, New York and Frankfurt and is represented by the Acuna-Hansen Gallery in Chinatown. Emily is known for her detailed works on paper and her last two solo shows have received “Pick Of The Week” in the LA WEEKLY. Emily creates original works of doggie art in watercolor and gouache that go beyond the typical portrait. Composition and scale are important elements to her overall approach which involves cutting out the painting and pasting it onto a custom chosen background, taking the whole piece to a new level of aesthetic sensibility. The pieces are modern, whimsical and stylish, a bit of humor and a bit of kitsch. They are portraits for the dog lover who wants something and funky and fun and has a keen eye for design. Emily will paint your dog with a best friend, toy or lounging on his favorite couch. She works from color photographs and the more the better! You can either work together to come up with the best background style and color for your doggie or Emily can pick it out herself. Emily is mommy to two small dogs, Baba the Chihuahua and Flo-Flo, the mutt-mutt. It’s just a coincidence that her nickname is “Wags.” Really. If the day's piece has been sold by the time you contact me, as it often is, I will make you another one almost exactly like it.

Please note that I often make several of the same PAINTINGS OF THE DAY. I DO NOT generate printed reproductions. I re-paint each and every one by hand. This means that while they will look very much like what you see here, each is a unique and individual piece of art. There will naturally be subtle differences, some undetectable, some not.

MAKE NICE: PAINTINGS OF THE DAY is not returnable or refundable. I am also not responsible for items damaged during shipping. But this would make me feel really bad so we can figure out some way to remedy this if it happens.

It's hard to tell how fresh and white the paper is. It's really fresh and white!
