Biography

A native New Yorker, Emily is an actress, writer, artist and blogger.  After receiving her BFA in fine arts from Vassar, she moved to LA, where she wrote, produced and starred in several films with her brother, noted indie director Andrew Wagner, and longtime collaborator Julie Delpy, all of which went on to have festival runs.  She wrote, produced, directed and starred in the popular web-series comedy "Motherhoodlum" on Strike.tv.

Emily is perhaps best known for her character on "ER," snarky paramedic Doris
Pickman, who she has played since the show started.  Emily received glowing reviews for her starring role in the Sundance cult hit "The Talent Given Us" in 2007. She also starred in the film "Chronic Town" with Garry Marshall and Paul Dooley, which premiered at Sundance in 2008.  More recently, she appeared in Todd Phillips' "Due Date" with Robert Downey Jr. and co-stars in Julie Delpy's "Two Days In New York," with Chris Rock.

Emily is also an accomplished fine-artist and has shown her work internationally and in L.A.’s Acuna Hansen Gallery.  Her two solo shows received critical acclaim and were LA Weekly's "Pick of the Week."

Emily is also partner in SAME DREAM AS YOU - a full service design studio whipping up brand, identity, web and textile design for the likes of Rory Beca, Forever 21, Rand Rusher Aesthetics and more.

Oh hi, it’s me, Em.

Wasn’t that bio beyond serious? A bit rote, if ya' know what I mean. Yah, thought so. Now I’m writing in the first person like a normal person so you can get to know me a little better.

Here’s a list of some facts about me that you may not know. I mean, how could you? That would just be creepy and weird.

I believe that for every four ounces of liquid, there's a Splenda pack with it's name on it.
I like to do several loads of laundry. Per hour.
I snuck into Studio 54 when I was 13.
I had a gold star bonded onto my tooth in the 80’s way before anyone knew what the heck teeth bling was.
I love bleach.
Both my hips are titanium.
I prefer a documentary to a narrative film any day.
I could be making art all day. If I had a trust fund.
I had a blog once called "If I had a trust fund."
I had a hip-hop radio show in Japan in the 90’s.
I could eat several pieces of my sis-in-law/best friend Chelsea’s Carrot Cake for breakfast.
I really DID get a free ipad, just like the Facebook spam said, but that’s another story.
Never thought I’d see the day when getting a facial was considered job research.
I’m in desperate need of a spell check editor.
And a nanny.
I was on a classic so-bad-it’s-good tv series in the 80’s called “High Feather” playing Cathy, the healthy farm girl. Let’s call that my first ‘stretching’ as an actress.
I love nothing more in the world than to make my hubby laugh.
And feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I turn my 5 year olds tears to laughter.
I secretly hate wine.
I’ve never had a beer.
I’m always in motion.
I’m obsessive about filing every single receipt.
I was once called “The Queen of House” as in music, not like, Lady of The Manor or anything.
I still have crates of vinyl records from my DJ days.
I type with 2 fingers.
I love rain and cold. But not at the same time.
I like to make things out of leather and feathers.
A three-hour massage is my idea of a good time.
I have considered starting a blog about gum.
I hate to sleep.
I’m very picky about lighting and like to gaff my apartment.
Everyone who knows me calls me Em. You can too.
